About the event
We recently brought together Investors, General Counsels, and Finance Leaders from across the venture community to explore how due diligence is evolving in an increasingly active market.
With Series A processes growing more onerous and average timelines stretching to eight weeks or beyond, the conversation quickly turned to why so many companies arrive unprepared. Recurring pain points included messy cap tables, unresolved IP ownership, co-founder disputes, and persistent GDPR gaps, issues that are far costlier to fix under the pressure of a live deal.
The group explored where AI is genuinely adding value to the due diligence process and where human judgment remains irreplaceable, alongside honest discussion about the governance founders need before adopting these tools.
Co-founder fallout emerged as a recurring concern, with surprisingly few companies having proper agreements in place to handle a split, despite it being far more common than most founders anticipate.
The conversation also turned to how investors are increasingly turning to cyber and IP insurance not just as a risk mitigation tool, but as a way to prepare portfolio companies for scaling and exit.
